I hate seeing this great laptop go to waste for what seems to be such a simple issue. The Apple MacBook Pro 'Core Duo' 2.16 15-Inch features a 2.16 GHz 'Core Duo' processor (T2600), with two independent processor 'cores' on a single silicon chip, a 2 MB shared 'on chip' level 2 cache, a 667 MHz frontside bus, 1.0 GB of 667 MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM, a 100.0 GB hard drive with 'Sudden Motion Sensor' technology, and a 4X single. Here is a full list of built-in apps that come with every Mac: Software. once i tried to reinstall mavericks i found out its no longer available. thinking I could easily reinstall the os I through the ulillity. Macs do not come with games, antivirus, MS Office, or Final Cut Pro. Question: Q: mac book pro needs an os model a1297 I purchased a mac book pro with a 500 gig hd from someone that was full of material inappropriate for a 12 year old. I don't want to go out and buy a copy of Leopard just too see if it works, it could end up being a waste of money. Any Macbook comes with either macOS Big Sur or Monterey (operating system) and built-in (free) software such as Time Machine, FaceTime, Safari, and Apple Music and TV. So I don't think it's an issue with the actual HDD. Each year more and more Macs fall by the wayside, unable to be updated to take advantage. From there I can see the HDD and I was even able to format it. Apple releases a new version of the Mac operating system almost every year, but it wont support every Mac. So, I tried booting with my CD that came with my regular 13" MacBook that I have at home and it booted up fine (but obviously gave an error when I tried installing OSX), but I was still able to get into the Disc Utility app and other tools. When I put the disc in and boot holding the "C" nothing happened.
I have a disc with it, only the one disc, it says MacBook Pro OS Install Disc 1. So when I booted it up all I would get was the white screen with the flashing question mark folder. As he explained it, his last tech ran a "kill disc" of sorts on it when he quit.
I acquired a 17" MacBook Pro (Intel Based) from a client. I'm a PC technician by day and a Mac user by night. I will try to explain my issue without making it too confusing.
